Here are some of the bits drying in the sun. This is just a tiny fraction of what has been excavated in just a week's work. Erk. I'm glad Mr WJ is here to help.

Here I am sorting out some of the bits. As you can see there are quite a lot. Its hard to put pictures on the blog but I'll try to add some more soon.

Here is a 4000 year old bowl especially for Lettie, Milo, Sophie and of course Ari. We just found it isnt it amazing? Hope you like it.

Well, its been a hot and busy day with about a zillion buckets of bits of pot to look at. Here are some pictures to show what I've been up to. I've looked at lots of storage jars and bowls and Mr WJ has been learning how to draw some of the things we have found. For a rest at coffee time we can have a walk by the Red Sea. Its very pretty.

Arrived Safe

We arrived at Safaga last night and today I have begun my work on the pottery. It already looks very interesting and there are a lot of big jars and plates, all kinds of pots used for storing and transporting things and for cooking. The hole in the ground is already about 2 metres deep and I have spent all day washing the pottery which is very salty as it comes from right by the sea. Tomorrow we will begin to study and draw some of the broken bits. So far there is only one whole pot but it is amazing, about 4000 years old and it looks new. That's all for today.

I am setting off on Boxing day to Mersa Gawasis on the Red Sea coast to help excavate a port which is about 4000 years old. I hope you will get in touch and let me know how things are at school.
